In the Philippines, March is the start of summer season. With this, most of the basketball leagues in towns happens during this time since most kids/students are starting to have their summer vacation. So for those who are looking for a budget shoe, then the Peak Streetball Master TaiChi might appeal to you as it could be a solid performer whether you ball inside the gym or outside the cement courts in the Philippines. The upper is made up knitted mesh layers which aids with breathability and also making the shoe light weight. There are also fuse panels on the toe guard as well as on the sides for some durability. The eyelets have a sturdy construction with the addition of synthetic leather panels and some nylon reinforcements in the midfoot for lockdown. It has a midtop build with leather panels on the tongue, heel and ankle area for some structure. It looks decently padded inside so ankle or heel instability looks minimal. Cushioning is composed of TaiChi foam but I think there is an EVA carrier or tooling that was also used. I would assume that the TaiChi foam is inside the foam carrier. Either that or a more dense blend of TaiChi foam. I made that assumption just from pressing the foam itself and it felt that it was firmer than usual TaiChi foam. But there is a tag that states it used TaiChi foam so at least we got that one cleared out. There is also a large TPU plate on the midfoot underneath making the outsole have a decoupled construction. Stability underneath should be great and the TPU even goes up to the sides of the medial and lateral side of the midfoot acting as a cage for harsh movements. Speaking of harsh, the outsole is made up of a durable solid rubber with multi-directional herringbone pattern that could withstand the rough surfaces of outdoor courts. So my guess is this could be a great shoe options for those are looking for a hoop shoe for the upcoming barangay ligas here in the Philippines.
