#kixspotted Nike Zoom Freak 5

I've spotted the Zoom Freak 5 at Tobys Store in SM the Block a couple of days ago and I am here to give you a quick rundown on how it looks as well as its pricing. Having a combination of synthetic textile and synthetic leather, the shoe feels light which I think is what they are aiming for. The silhouette looks like it would also look nice to be worn casually or off court particularly this colorway due to the simple color blocking of black and white. In fact, the shoe does remind me of the Nike Waffle One Debut which is a lifestyle shoe from the swoosh brand. That big swoosh branding on the lateral side together with that midsole gives me that vibe. If there is one thing that I think that Nike missed is that synthetic leather that was used. I hoped they used a more premium leather since this is after all a signature shoe and Giannis is one of their premier players who we can say could carry the banner for Nike in the upcoming years. However, I also think that this could also be their strategy to lower the price point which could appeal more consumers which is also a great idea. After all, it's always good to cop an official signature shoe without burning a hole in your pockets too much. Going back to more tech specs, there is some reinforcements in the lacing area which will provide more containment in the midfoot. Those flaps can be seen in the mid part of the laces both on the medial and lateral side. For cushioning, it has forefoot Zoom Air which is housed inside a Phylon foam -- which also helps in reducing the price compared to let's say they used a different blend of foam like React or Cushlon for example. Since there is a Zoom Air in the forefoot, you still get a good amount of responsiveness in that area. Underneath is a solid rubber outsole with Giannis logo used as a pattern in the forefoot area. The arrangement of the traction pattern in the forefoot is kinda tight which I think might cause some problems particularly in dusty courts and I hope that would not be the case. But if it would be a problem, maybe quick wipings would be warranted. For a retail price of Php 6,385 I think it is a good price considering that there's some good tech and it is a signature shoe from one of NBA Superstars playing today's game. You can get them now at Toby's Store in SM The Block.
