Best Foot Forward Converse CTAS City Trek Hi
We were at Trinoma the other night and saw that Converse is having a sale at the moment. Aside from the item's usual discounted price, if you buy 2 or more items you get another extra discount which makes the deal more sweeter. Of course, we checked out the racks and see what items would entice us so my wife and I bought these 2 items. Seriously, the sale is so ridiculous that buying these 2 shoes is equivalent to buying a discounted shoe from Converse. The total was Php 4,192.30 to be exact, so I would say that we really got a good deal out of this. This is the first pair which is my wife's pair, the Converse CTAS City Trek Hi.

The look of the shoe in general is very similar to your classic Chuck Taylor All Star but with some notable changes. First is the height of the shoe. The platform or midsole height is elevated thanks to the very thick rubber outsole. The shoe is made with trekking in mind. Is it a proper trekking shoe? I would say no, but you can of course trek in these if you want to. It's just that it wouldn't be supportive enough if you were to scale some tough terrains. However, what you will get is a very great traction because according to my wife when she try these on in the store, it feels as though she would roll her ankle because of the very sticky outsole. It isn't a gum outsole, but a solid rubber but with a very, very, very good floor bite.

Well, the reason that she bought this is that since it is rainy season here in the Philippines, she is looking for a shoe to rock that would be easier to walk on some water puddles when she goes out for work or just go outside in general. The upper is made from Cordura fabric which makes it more suitable in our recent weather condition. For comfort, there is a CX Foam insole and while it isn't the most pillowy insole out there, the comfort is great for the shoe's build in my opinion. This isn't really a performance shoe so I myself would not prefer a very cushiony insole, but just enough comfort underfoot. Like I said earlier, it doesn't move too far away from your classic All-Star so you will see the branding on the medial side, and at the heel and that very familiar midsole and toe box that we all love from Converse. The sale price on these is Php 2,994 which you can get at Converse store in Trinoma. The sale will last till this weekend so I suggest you check them out as there are a lot great designs to choose from.
