Now on its third iteration, Nike continues its movement to bring sustainability in their basketball performance line. The Cosmic Unity 3 contains 20% of recycled content by weight according to Nike and I think that is a significant number especially since some consider sneakers as one of those that have the heaviest carbon footprints in the world of fast fashion. So at least we know that Nike is trying to ease the burden and I hope they, as well as other brands do their part as well.

This time around, the cushioning tech is a bit lacking for me, as they have ditched the Zoom Air strobel and just used foam as its main source of cushion. I do not know the reason why Nike decided to do this but I think it is a step back since it is always nice to have Zoom Air in the cushioning especially when you consider its price. Also, they did not specify what kind of foam they used here. It has a drop-in midsole setup and you can see there is also a foam shell outside the shoe for added containment I guess. But there was no details as to what kind of foam they used on their website. As for the upper, I think it is durable and thick enough to last even for outdoor use. The texture of the upper feels thick and durable and according to Nike, it is a combination of Flyknit and Flymesh. Different thread patterns of various thickness can be seen on the upper which means it would also help with the containment. The outsole is made up of solid rubber with a foot-mapping like pattern and basically I have no qualms about it as it give aid you in your multi-directional movements. It is thick and for outdoor use, this would fair okay. If you want to give this a try, the shoe retails for Php 8,895 and is available at Nike store in SM North Edsa.
