Best Foot Forward: Fila 96
A big chunk of sneakers companies today don't use leather anymore in the shoes upper, as everyone is into the competition where they want to build a light shoe. I mean don't get me wrong, playing in a light shoe is good but for me I would choose comfort over weight.
This shoe reminds me of high school, the look being bulky and all. Back then, I prefer my shoe to be bulky since I was small and I want to get some advantage in height. Kids would just wear and play in their sneakers indoors and outdoors until the shoe breaks. Those were the days ;)
Upon quick inspection and wearing them on the store, I can feel a good step-in comfort inside. The only thing I am worried about is the traction patter as I hope they would cater most court types.
Here are some details I found on finishline.
Men's FILA 96 Basketball Shoes
The retro basketball movement continues with the release of a favorite 1990s era hoops sneaker, the Men's Fila NINETY6 Basketball Shoes. This classic Fila Grant Hill 2 kick features sleek styling that mirrors Grant Hill's polished game on the hardwood.
Featuring a smooth leather upper with glossy patent leather hints and the iconic Fila logo embroidered at the side, these throwback court sneakers were a huge hit when they were first released in 1996. Many Grant Hill fans will remember that he wore these during the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta.
In addition to old-school style, these basketball sneakers also have performance details to give you support and comfort on or off the court. The rubber outsole with traction pattern prevents slippage, while the 2A cushioning technology adds a plush feel underfoot.
- UPPER:Leather and patent leather
- MIDSOLE: 2A cushioning
- OUTSOLE: Rubber with traction
